It is with great sadness that we record the death of our much loved and respected Guruji. He passed away early this morning in Pune, after a short period of failing health. The thread of yoga which he has woven us into will continue strong, as we celebrate his life in our own, and in our practice.

On 14 August at Earl Haig Hall, our regular weekly class (now on Thursdays) is taught by Louise Leonard. Louise has supported this class with her great teaching since it started last year, but the switch to Thursdays will mean she is rarely able to come and teach it for NELIYI. So this week's session might be her last one for us for the time being - do come along and enjoy Louise's teaching. Next week it'll be Agnieszka, then Nancy on 28th August.

NELIYI's regular weekly class in Crouch End has been held on Wednesdays, but we now run the class on Thursdays, at the same time (12.30-2pm) and place (Earl Haig Hall, Elder Avenue, N8 9TH). We have shifted from the bar hall into the next-door hall (bigger and quieter). You can just turn up - it's a drop-in general class - or ring Ros for details on 07941 062321.

Today is our much loved Yogacharya BKS Iyengar's 95th birthday.
We are privileged to have enjoyed so many years of his teaching and wisdom, and are delighted to be celebrating this special birthday.
Warm and humble wishes from all members of NELIYI to Guruji on this day.

This really is big news: NELIYI is starting a weekly class in Crouch End, taught by excellent local teachers. It's on Wednesdays, 12.30-2pm, in the Earl Haig Hall, Elder Avenue, Crouch End, N8 9TH, and is a general class, open to all, costing only £7 for NELIYI members (£6 concessionary rate for NELIYI members on a low income), and £8 for non-members.
Earl Haig Hall is newly (re-)opened as a social club, and has been exceptionally generous to NELIYI in letting us use this lovely old hall.
Our long-standing supporter (and quite possibly best yoga stuff supplier in the world), YogaMatters, has very kindly provided the class with mats and equipment - so all you have to do is turn up ready to practise.
If you are new to yoga, come with an empty stomach, non-restrictive clothing, and be prepared to work in bare feet. If you have been doing yoga for years, you are also welcome - these five teachers have many decades of teaching experience between them.
The first class is on 6th November, taught by Ros Bell. Subsequent classes will be taught by Ros, Nancy Clarke, Fran Nixon, Louise Leonard and Agnieszka Golec de Zavala (not necessarily in that order). If you have any queries about the class, you can email us via the contact button on our homepage, or ask one of these teachers.

Thanks to all who have renewed NELIYI membership (was due on 1st October).
A few days ago, we emailed a reminder renewal notice, and inadvertently sent it to all recent members, instead of just those who had not yet renewed. Apologies for any confusion; if you did pay a second time, Pam will contact you to arrange a refund.
And if you needed reminding, please renew now; you can do this online (via 'Joining NELIYI' tab).

Teachers - if you intended to book for the November Professional Development Day, please note that it is now full, so all you can do is contact the organiser to put your name on the waiting list.
If you are someone who thought you had booked, but have not yet paid, contact Nancy to check that you still have your place (and pay).
And if you have booked and paid, please do attend (or contact Nancy if you can't, to free the place for someone else). Thanks everyone - we're delighted it'll be so well attended.
And to anyone who wanted to attend and can't - remember that November also sees us hosting day workshops with Senior teacher and Moderator, Richard Agar Ward. These workshops will certainly provide valuable devlopmental input for your practice and teaching.
