Just in case you missed our email, here's a reminder that it's time to renew your NELIYI membership. If you're not yet a member, now is an excellent time to join, because you get up to three weeks free! Join or renew now, and your membership lasts until the end of March 2017.
The easiest way is to join or renew online (click on the Joining NELIYI tab above or here), or get a copy of the joining form from a committee member.

We look forward to welcoming you to NELIYI's 2015 Annual General Meeting tomorrow (Sunday 28 June) at the Harringay Club, 50 Tottenham Lane, London N8 7EE. The meeting will start at 12.15 (earlier than originally announced), just after the workshop with Aubrey Maasdorp (spaces available, starts at 9.15 am). We don't expect the meeting to go on after 1pm, but it is in an important occasion, since we expect to be adopting our newly revised Constitution.
Thank you to all who have voted for that; if you haven't voted, you still can, at the AGM, or by email beforehand to firstname.lastname@example.org - that's NELIYI's Chair.

As the new year gets underway, our Committee says a grateful farewell to Judith Simo, who is stepping down after over two years with us on the Committee's workshops team. Late last year, we also said goodbye to Sev Kanay, who has worked hard for NELIYI in several roles, not only organising our workshops, but Chairing NELIYI. A warm thank you to both of these valued teacher members.
Back in the workshop team is our Secretary, Nancy Clarke, who once more will act as organiser for the teachers' Professional Development Day - thank you, Nancy. And we are delighted to welcome Naomi Braybrooke onto the Committee, taking on the role of Workshops organiser. Events will soon be appearing on this website!

On 14 December 2014 BKS Iyengar would have been 96 years old. Although he died four months ago, we still celebrate his birthday and his memory. His life and teaching will continue to inspire us for the years to come.
We are fortunate in having members of the Iyengar family and other fine teachers to guide us still, and so we delight too in marking Geeta Iyengar's 70th birthday (a week ago). Geeta celebrated by holding a special course of teaching in Pune this month, which a few NELIYI teacher members were privileged to attend.
As the year draws to a close, NELIYI is getting ready for a busy year ahead, commemorating Guruji in our ongoing practice, and supporting the teaching of Iyengar yoga in our local area.

1st October is the start of NELIYI's membership year, so most of our members have received renewal notices and renewed - thank you very much. If you haven't yet renewed, now is an excellent time to do it: just click on the Joining NELIYI tab above, and you'll find the updated 2014-15 subscription form for convenient and secure online payment.
We understand that a few people received a renewal reminder from us even though they had already renewed; we apologise for any confusion caused by this. If you are not sure whether you have renewed or not, send our membership secretary, Norma, an email, and she'll let you know. (email@example.com)

It is with great sadness that we record the death of our much loved and respected Guruji. He passed away early this morning in Pune, after a short period of failing health. The thread of yoga which he has woven us into will continue strong, as we celebrate his life in our own, and in our practice.

On 14 August at Earl Haig Hall, our regular weekly class (now on Thursdays) is taught by Louise Leonard. Louise has supported this class with her great teaching since it started last year, but the switch to Thursdays will mean she is rarely able to come and teach it for NELIYI. So this week's session might be her last one for us for the time being - do come along and enjoy Louise's teaching. Next week it'll be Agnieszka, then Nancy on 28th August.

NELIYI's regular weekly class in Crouch End has been held on Wednesdays, but we now run the class on Thursdays, at the same time (12.30-2pm) and place (Earl Haig Hall, Elder Avenue, N8 9TH). We have shifted from the bar hall into the next-door hall (bigger and quieter). You can just turn up - it's a drop-in general class - or ring Ros for details on 07941 062321.
