• SOLD OUT - Workshop with Ros Bell: Yama and Niyama in Asana

    Saturday, 29th February 2020 at 2pm - 5pm
Location: The Iyengar Yoga Studio, 4 Leicester Road, East Finchley, London, N2 9EA

Sorry, this workshop is now fully booked. You can add your name to the waiting list (click on Register), and we will let you know if there are any cancellations.

Ros is an Intermediate Senior (Level 3) teacher, who first studied with BKS Iyengar in India in 1977, after taking up yoga as a student in Oxford. She has been teaching Iyengar yoga since that time, and training and assessing teachers, and never grown tired of it.

This workshop is open to anyone with a sincere interest in the subject and an ability to stay awake, physically and mentally, for three hours, but is not suitable for beginners in Iyengar yoga. Our focus will be on the first three of the Eight Limbs (Ashtanga) of Yoga: yama, niyama and asana. Yama and niyama are the ethical and social guidelines that underlie our practice of the postures (asana).

While the workshop, as usual, will include plenty of asana practice, you will be invited to link how you do this to specific principles of yama and niyama. We will explore together what this means for our practice, and hence for our life.

The workshop will be held in our usual venue, the warm and fully equipped studio in East Finchley. Full payment is essential, in order to reserve your place; please do this by clicking on 'Buy tickets'. If you have any queries about the workshop, or about your booking, please contact Louise or Ros.

This 3-hour workshop is for general level students; you should be familiar with the basic postures, and used to practising inversions.

  • Workshop with Darren Bloom

    Sunday, 3rd May 2020 at 12pm - 6pm
Location: The Iyengar Yoga Studio, 4 Leicester Road, East Finchley, London, N2 9EA

After living and teaching for many years in North London, Darren has more recently been enjoying life on the sunny South coast. We are delighted to offer this opportunity to attend a London class with this popular teacher, and grateful that he has agreed to offer a longer session than our usual workshop hours – making the most of his trip back to the NELIY area.

Darren is certified at Intermediate Junior Level 3, and is a dedicated practitioner of Iyengar yoga; he feels that it is the grounding base of everything that he does. Darren also has a background as a therapist in CranialSacral therapy and SomatoEmotional Release. His classes are typically challenging and fun, so we are expecting a day to enjoy.
This is a six-hour workshop, which will include a one-hour break. We are not providing refreshments, but the studio is close to shops and cafes (or you can bring a drink and snack).
