This Continuing Pranayama series of four sessions is for experienced practitioners, including those who attended the pranayama course last November or the one held early this year.
The series of four sessions will review the foundations of pranayama practice and take a closer look at considerations in lying and sitting for pranayama, as well as the practice of breathing itself. As in the earlier courses, but with increasing detail and subtlety, we will look at the technicalities of breathing, follow different breathing patterns and methods, and feel the connections between body, breath and mind. We will build on the work done previously, introducing a greater variety of pranayama techniques. The sessions will also include some appropriate asana practice, postures to open the chest, to prepare for sitting, and to bring quietness.
Anyone who has done some Iyengar yoga pranayama classes and practice, and is familiar with Ujjayi pranayama, is welcome to book for these sessions. If you have a serious medical condition, or have any queries, please contact us first so that this can be discussed with the teacher.
Ros is an Intermediate Senior Level 3 teacher, who has been teaching Iyengar yoga for forty years. She has visited our parent Institute in Pune, and learned pranayama with BKS Iyengar himself, as well as with Geeta and Prashant Iyengar and other senior teachers in India and in the UK.
These four classes are designed to be taken together as a set, a developing series, so you cannot book for individual sessions. Numbers are limited, and advance booking is essential, so please complete your booking as soon as you can.
The course costs: NELIYI members*: £40 / NELIYI members concessions: £32 / Non-members: £60
